Pet Owners Act Younger & May Live Longer

Here's one of my fave anti-aging strategies...albeit a furry one. Own a pet.

This is me and my buddy 'Logan.'

Researchers at St. Andrews University report that "If you have a dog in the home, your physical activity level is roughly equivalent to a person 10 years younger.”

Undoubtedly, the increased physical activity from regular walks with a dog that can influence weight regulation and heart health.

While you might not make it to the gym, that unrelenting mutt WILL make you get up off that couch.

(Sorry, cat lovers, that's something you just can't get from a cat...unless you count going under the couch to retrieve toys.)

But ALL pets can certainly improve your psychological health. They provide companionship, prevent loneliness and give the owner a sense of purpose.

Plus, petting an animal can quickly lower your blood pressure and heart rate and reduce stress.

Even watching an animal can take the edge off -- have you noticed the fish tanks showing up in dentists' offices?

So, loving on a pet will make you happier...and might even help you to live longer.

Now go love-up your dog or cat...

...or porcupine or fox or monkey. (Oops, that's just me, remnants of a former life, I'll explain later.)
